Important Health Tips for your child – Summer Vacations

0

Hello all, today I’ll be giving a few important pieces of advice on – How to keep children healthy and happy during vacations.

Vacations are a good time to learn some new hobbies – encourage your child to read a small book, paint, join some dancing class, music class, cooking, calligraphy, origami etc. Let him participate in sports like – cricket, football, gymnastics, basketball, badminton etc. This improves the creativity of your child.

Spend quality time with your child, go for a walk with him, play with the child, spend weekends with the family, take him to your village, or let him stay over-night with cousins, grand-parents. This helps in improving the emotional balance of the child.

Make sure the child doesn’t waste this time in TV, mobile or lazying around. Involve him in good fun activities. Take them to see museums, national parks, science centers, temples, historical places, theme parks, plays etc.

If the child is playing a lot in the sun or has joined some extra classes – swimming, badminton – make sure you give him good nutritious food – high in protein and calcium (See – Proteins, Calcium series, Child health series)

Keep the child well hydrated – coconut water, sabja, chaas, sugar water, electral water, glucon D, Tang, Variyari pani, and fruits like watermelon, and muskmelon,  – increase the water intake by these fluids.

It’s vacation time, and many of the parents have planned a few trips. Here are some tips that you can follow so that the child doesn’t fall sick on the trip.

  • Avoid extremes of weather, or change of weather. Too hot or too cold temperature, going to water parks etc.
  • Avoid cold things in this heat – ice cream, cold water, cold drinks, nimbu pani etc
  • Avoid outside food as much as possible – stick to simple meals. Do not eat too much of farsan, chips, choco, snacks, ice creams. Carry home food which can last few days like – paratha, thepla, Indian sweets – laddu, goad papdi, dry fruits.
  • Give fruits like – water melon, musk melon, apple, banana, chiku, mango, pear etc. Avoid – grapes, jamun, strawberries, jackfruit.
  • Drink lots of water. Make sure the child is hydrated. Urine color should be white transparent, not yellow.

These are some general guidelines for the health of children. If you have any specific doubts, you can write in the below comments, or can call or message us anytime. We’ll be happy to help. Thank you.
