Very important health post..
Hello all, Hope u are enjoying Diwali. Wish u a very happy Diwali and a prosperous new year.
This is a very short important post, please do read it.
I know its Diwali, and not a good time for health update. But I can’t ever switch off the doctor within me. I feel this advice is very important and should reach you all, If possible do follow it, to remain healthy.
The most important advice I want to give, is don’t eat too many sweets esp kaju sweets (Kaju katli, other kaju sweets) Diwali has just started and I have already seen 8 patients in last two days, who had sore throat and cough due to kaju sweets.
Weather is bad too, so take care of health, be hydrated, avoid extremes of temperature.
Kindly avoid following things –
- Kaju sweets,
- Chocolate coated nuts, flavored chocolates,
- Salted dryfruits
- Colored/flavoured sweets – orange, yellow,
- Pedas, other sugar based sweets, gulab jamun, Bengali sweets, jalebi
- Outside fried snacks – chakli, farsan (homemade are fine)
- Colored drinks – roohAfza, mocktails, roadside juices, golas
- People having Asthma shouldn’t go where crackers are burst.
- Old people, asthamatics should avoid very early morning walks for few days.
Trust me I have seen people complaining of dry, irritating cough lasting 3-4 months bcoz of over eating in Diwali. So take care, have a happy and safe Diwali.
